The Lakers could be particularly intrigued by Haywood’s contract as they continue to clear cap space for the 2016 free agency period. Fox Sports’ Sam Amico reported recently that Young could be a player of interest to the Cavaliers. The former 2007 first round draft pick is a career 38% three point-shooter, and could provide some depth behind both Iman Shumpert and LeBron James.
However, Young would come to the Cavaliers with some baggage. He has had issues of being selfish with the ball at times, but can get hot in ways similar to J.R. Smith. This is reflected in his three consecutive years of double-digit scoring averages per game. If the Cavs are unable to retain their own eccentric swingman in Smith, Young could be an option to replace him.
