Cavaliers Nation Predictions: Which Cleveland Cavaliers Players Are Staying and Which Are Leaving?

2. Iman Shumpert

Similar to Dellavedova, Iman Shumpert will become a restricted free agent this offseason.

Griffin stated that he intends to extend a qualifying offer to Shumpert, worth $3.7 million for next season. Acquired in a mid-season trade with the New York Knicks, the 24-year-old guard became a starter during the Cavaliers’ postseason run.

However, he struggled drastically with his shot in the postseason (36 percent) and was even worse in the Finals (25.6 percent).

Having said that, he is very young and is a capable defender who would be considered a starter as a defensive specialist on a lot of teams. At the very least, he is a key rotational player.

However, Cleveland’s Chris Haynes reports that the three-year veteran could command a new contract worth $8 million annually.

If the offers get too high for Cleveland to match, there is little doubt that they’ll allow the Georgia Tech product to walk.

Considering teams will likely be willing to overpay Shumpert, it would come as no shock if he were to walk to capitalize on his stock value this offseason.

Prediction: Leaving

Next: J.R. Smith
