Veteran big man Kevin Love is currently a member of the Utah Jazz, as he was dealt from the Miami Heat to Utah earlier this offseason as part of a bigger three-team trade. However, there have been recent rumblings that he will be bought out by the Jazz, who are in no position to win now.

On Wednesday, Love’s former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Channing Frye appeared to tease some inside info regarding Love’s NBA future. He responded to a post on X indicating that Love has a desire to join the Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers and seemingly tabbed the report as inaccurate.

Frye was then asked if Love wants to return to the Cavaliers, and he offered an ambiguous reaction to the question.

Love spent more than eight seasons as a member of the Cavaliers earlier on in his pro career. He got traded to the Cavaliers around the same time franchise legend LeBron James began his second stint in Cleveland. Love stuck around for the entirety of James’ second stint in a Cavaliers uniform and was still a member of the team long after James left to sign with the Lakers in the summer of 2018.

Love’s lengthy stint in a Cavaliers uniform ended midway through the 2022-23 campaign, when he and the team agreed to a buyout. Love joined the Miami Heat soon after clearing waivers and nearly won a title with the team in the 2023 NBA Playoffs, as Miami made a surprise run to the NBA Finals as a No. 8 seed.

The crowning achievement of Love’s Cavaliers tenure was helping the team win its first title in franchise history back in 2016. To this day, it’s the only championship he’s won at the NBA level.

However, Love would theoretically have a real puncher’s chance to add to his ring count if he were to join the Cavaliers ahead of the coming season. Cleveland is fresh off a 64-win season and has a talented core led by Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.
