It’s unclear if the timing of the filing (the same day Cleveland clinched a playoff spot) was a coincidence. The term, often used when the Cavs go on a huge run, sums up just how effective the squad has been on the offensive end of the floor in the 2024-25 campaign. Cleveland might just be the best offensive team in the league at this juncture.

For one, the Cavaliers are averaging a league-high 123.1 points per game this season. They also rank second in the NBA in field-goal percentage and first in 3-point percentage.

Star guard Donovan Mitchell is Cleveland’s leading scorer, but the Cavs have received consistent scoring production from folks up and down the roster. A whopping six players on Cleveland’s current roster are averaging 10-plus points per game with the team.

Considering the timing of Cleveland’s trademark filing, folks maybe shouldn’t be surprised if “CAVALANCHE” is featured on merchandise related to the 2025 NBA Playoffs.

Friday’s matchup stands out as one that the Cavaliers should win, so long as they don’t play down to their competition. The Hornets have won just 14 games all season and are losers of their last eight contests.
