The Cleveland Cavaliers announced in a press release on Tuesday that Bill Fagan will serve as the president of business operations of Rock Entertainment Group and the Cavs.

Rock Entertainment Group is the holding company for the Cavs and other companies. Fagan will officially begin working in his new role on Sept. 23.

In his role, Fagan will have a number of responsibilities on the business side of things.

“As President of Business Operations for Rock Entertainment Group and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Bill will oversee all commercial aspects, communications, marketing, community relations, social impact, the Cavs Community Foundation, franchise operations and other areas of growth for Rock Entertainment Group,” the press release read. “He will report directly to Nic Barlage, Chief Executive Officer for Rock Entertainment Group, Cleveland Cavaliers and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.”

Barlage released a statement in which he had high praise for Fagan.

“Bill’s passion to lead, evolve and grow teams and major sporting brands in creative and innovative ways will add immediate and long-lasting value to our organization and deepen our commitment to the community we serve in Northeast Ohio and beyond,” Barlage said. “His extensive experience, leadership and strategic vision will propel our organization to new heights and supercharge our continued pursuit of growth and impact locally, nationally and globally for our community, fanbase and enterprise.”

Fagan is accustomed to working in sports, as he has more than two decades of experience in the industry, and he put together a long stint with PlayFly Aspire, a sports and entertainment firm.

In addition to his time working at PlayFly Aspire, Fagan has experience working for multiple professional sports teams. He held positions with the Phoenix Suns, Charlotte Bobcats — now the Charlotte Hornets — and Moncton Wildcats Hockey Club.

Fagan expressed how excited he is to begin his new role with the Cavaliers organization and gave flowers to the team’s ownership.

“I’ve long admired the Cavaliers and what Rock Entertainment Group has built under the outstanding leadership of the Gilbert Family through Nic Barlage and his Senior Leadership Team,” said Fagan. “I’m energized to support all our team members across the organization as we, together, continue to set the standard of excellence in community leadership, fan service, innovation and maintaining a sustained winning culture. The Northeast Ohio region anchored by Cleveland is a special place comprised of real, hardworking people filled with pride and passion. I cannot wait to serve this community.”

He is also a well-educated man, as he earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Miami and then got his MBA at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.

Whether it be on social media or in person, fans of the Cavaliers should give Fagan a warm welcome to the team.
