Isaiah Mobley’s amazing reaction to his brother Evan landing monster contract extension from Cavs

The Cleveland Cavaliers recently checked another box off their offseason to-do list by signing big man Evan Mobley to a maximum contract extension, according to reports on Saturday.

The news drew some reactions on social media, including one from Mobley’s brother Isaiah, who also played for the Cavs during each of the past two seasons.

Isaiah Mobley, the older of the two, made sure to let his brother know that he’s proud of him.

Evan Mobley responded.

The Cavs are investing heavily in Evan Mobley, giving him a five-year extension at $224 million that could be worth up to $269 million. Cleveland seemingly has high hopes for the 23-year-old under new skipper Kenny Atkinson, a coach known for his player development.

Evan Mobley has shown a lot in three NBA seasons, establishing himself as a double-double threat while also proving to be one of the most valuable defensive players in all of basketball. But he certainly has room for growth on the offensive end of the floor, and it’s a safe bet that the Cavs are hoping he’ll tap into his offensive potential over the course of his new deal.

Last season, the former No. 3 overall pick averaged 15.7 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 58.0 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from beyond the arc.

The season before, he earned All-Defensive honors for the first time in his career while also finishing third in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Isaiah Mobley, on the other hand, may have to find a new home after spending two seasons with the Cavs. They didn’t extend him a qualifying offer this offseason, making him an unrestricted free agent.

In 22 total appearances with the Cavs, Isaiah Mobley averaged 2.5 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. He shot 42.3 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from deep along the way, averaging just 7.1 minutes per game.

The 24-year-old was a second-round pick in 2022 and certainly showed some exciting flashes during his time at the University of Southern California — the same school his brother attended — so he may get another shot to prove he belongs in the NBA in the future.
