Bob Myers Says Warriors Didn’t Feel ‘Joy’ After Beating Cavs in 2018 Finals

The Golden State Warriors easily decimated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2018 NBA Finals.

As a matter of fact, Warriors president and general manager Bob Myers recently said his team felt no joy after winning the 2018 title.

“The second time with Kevin [Durant] it felt like, ‘Well, we just did what we were supposed to do, and great job,'” Myers said. “It wasn’t joy.

The Cavaliers and Warriors linked up in the NBA Finals four consecutive times between 2015 and 2018.

While the first two matchups in 2015 and 2016 were competitive, Golden State’s acquisition of superstar Kevin Durant during the summer of 2016 ended up tilting the scale.

After the Cavs lost 4-1 in the 2017 NBA Finals, All-Star guard Kyrie Irving demanded a trade out of Cleveland. Despite the front office’s effort to overhaul the roster, the Cavs had a weak lineup during the 2018 playoffs.

Yet, four-time MVP LeBron James fought hard during the 2018 NBA Finals. He put up 34.0 points, 10.0 assists and 8.5 rebounds per game during the series. However, his teammates lacked star power and experience.

In the end, the Warriors overpowered the Cavs in four games in the 2018 Finals. Durant averaged 28.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game, as he earned the 2018 Finals MVP trophy.
