Cedi Osman Sends Optimistic Message Regarding Cavs’ Upcoming Season

The Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the NBA’s worst teams last season, but that may change as soon as the 2019-20 regular season kicks off next month.

On Monday, during the Cavs’ media day at Cleveland Clinic Courts, third-year forward Cedi Osman spoke about his belief that the Cavaliers are going to be sneaking up on plenty of teams this season.

The Cavs had a 19-63 record last season, tying them with the Phoenix Suns for second-worst in the league. But with a year under sophomore point guard Collin Sexton’s belt, a potential top rookie in Darius Garland and a healthy Kevin Love in the lineup, the Wine and Gold could be much better than last season.

Also, with a new head coach in John Beilein and a revamped roster from a year ago, the Cavs certainly figure to be one of the NBA’s more intriguing teams. There are many new faces in the Cavs’ lineup. They acquired three rookies from last June’s draft, two of them they selected themselves (Garland and Dylan Windler), and the other one through a trade (Kevin Porter Jr.).

J.R. Smith, a starter on the Cavaliers the past few years, was waived last July. Only Love, Matthew Dellavedova and Tristan Thompson remain from the 2016 title team.

With so many unknowns about this team, it’s difficult to get a good grasp on how good or bad it will be.

Despite many fans and pundits believing that Cleveland will be one of the league’s worst teams once again, Osman prefers to see the glass half full rather than half empty. Perhaps he will be proven right about the Cavs potentially surprising a lot of teams this year, but we won’t know for sure until a few games have been played in the regular season.

We’ll find out soon enough.
