J.R. Smith Gets Incredible Tattoo of His Daughter

The NBA is a league where players have long been criticized for not being monogamous and family-oriented.

Former Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith may be an exception to that. He took to Instagram earlier today to pay homage to one of his four daughters.

Smith, who will turn 34 in a few weeks, was one of the last links to the Cavaliers’ one and only NBA championship team in 2016. He was waived earlier this summer after a frustrating season in which he accused the team of tanking, saying that the organization was looking to “develop [young players] and lose to get lottery picks.”

His production also dropped in 2018-19, as he averaged just 6.7 points per game on 34.2 percent field-goal shooting, both career lows. His 30.8 percent accuracy from 3-point range was his lowest since his rookie season in 2004-05.

During the Cavaliers’ halcyon days with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, Smith was a streaky shooter who contributed to many wins with his ability to get hot from downtown.

When the team won its NBA title in 2016, he made 40.0 percent of his 3-point attempts during the regular season, and 43.0 percent of them during the playoffs.
