Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue is back in the NBA.

The 42-year-old is set to join the Los Angeles Clippers and become a top assistant to Doc Rivers.

After getting fired by the Cavaliers six games into the 2018-19 NBA season, Lue was close to getting hired by the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this summer. However, that faltered when contract issues formed revolving around the length of his proposed contract, his annual salary and other stipulations.

Now, the 2016 champion will join the the other Los Angeles team, though those at the the helm won’t be too unfamiliar.

Lue and Rivers have plenty of coaching experience together. Lue was Rivers’ assistant with the Boston Celtics during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons before the the pair directed the Clippers during the 2013-14 season.

In his head coaching tenure with the Cavs, Lue put together a strong 128-83 regular season record. Yet, the former NBA guard’s best coaching feat came when he led the franchise to its first NBA title against the Golden State Warriors in 2016.
