Larry Nance Jr. Welcomes Sam Dekker to Cavs With Valuable Advice

Larry Nance Jr. has only been a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers for the past six months, but it’s clear that he now fully understands the on-court philosophy of the team. In welcoming the newest member of the Cavaliers, forward Sam Dekker, to the team, he offered some cogent advice on what to expect when Dekker begins training camp at the end of next month.

Dekker was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday afternoon, while Nance had arrived with guard Jordan Clarkson from the Los Angeles Lakers at the trading deadline in February. During Nance’s four months playing with the team, he became acutely aware of what Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue expects from his team on the court.

The 25-year-old Nance, the namesake son of Cavaliers legend Larry Nance, showed promise during his time with the Cavaliers, the team he grew up rooting for while growing up in the Akron suburb of Revere. After arriving from the Lakers on Feb. 8, he averaged 8.9 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, and also offered a developing presence on defense in the areas of shot-blocking and steals. He was chosen by the Lakers as the 27th overall player in the 2015 NBA Draft out of the University of Wyoming.
