Following another embarrassing loss at home on Saturday night, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Isaiah Thomas voiced his concern about the lack of effort in the team’s 120-88 loss to the Houston Rockets.
The volatile Thomas pointed out the Cavaliers’ lack of cohesiveness and overall fight as examples of what he meant:
“We don’t have [trust] at all on that end of the floor. It is an effort thing. Teams are outhustling us and that can’t fall into the toughness category as well,” said Thomas. “I don’t know the last time we got on the floor for a loose ball. I know that teams I’ve been on, defense is determined on deflections, steals, loose balls, who’s the hardest working team.”
Thomas himself again struggled on offense, finishing with 12 points on the night. From the field, the veteran hit on just 5-of-13 and missed all four of his attempts from long-range.
The loss to the Rockets now puts the Cavaliers’ record at 30-21 on the year, a far cry from the 23-8 mark they had entering the Dec. 19 game at Milwaukee. The Cavs will seek to get back on track when they face Orlando on the road on Tuesday night.
