Report: LeBron James ‘Disappointed’ About Griffin’s Departure and ‘Concerned’ About Cavs’ Future

In a progressive avalanche of news regarding the Cleveland Cavaliers’ front office and its players on Monday, another worrisome report was released on Monday night as Howard Beck of Bleacher Report stated that Cavs superstar LeBron James was “disappointed” at the departure of Cavs general manager David Griffin and appears to be “worried” about the team’s future.

With three days before the start of the 2017 NBA Draft, and teams reportedly in a hurry to make deals for big name players such as Paul George and Jimmy Butler, the timing of the whole situation becomes that much more confusing.

Cavs owner Dan Gilbert confirmed that the team will not be offering Griffin an extension on his contract, which is set to expire on June 30.

“It makes no sense why he shouldn’t get an extension,” James said of Griffin, per ESPN.com’s Dave McMenamin in early April. “He’s pulled every move—he’s tried to make every move happen—to better this team to be able to compete for a championship. So we wouldn’t be in this position, obviously, without him and without the guys that are here—from the coaching staff to the players to Griff. He’s been a big piece of it.”
