Cavs News: Tyronn Lue Gives Injury Update on Kay Felder and Iman Shumpert

Good news is on the way for the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ guard-stricken bench.

According to Jason Llyod of the Akron Beach Journal, rookie Kay Felder has been cleared from the NBA’s concussion protocol and Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue believes “there is a great chance” Iman Shumpert could be cleared as well, in time for Friday’s big game against the Toronto Raptors.

Felder, 21, had injured his head during practice a few days before the season started. The guard missed the Cavs’ season opener against the New York Knicks but will make his NBA season debut on Friday.

On the other hand, Shumpert collided with 7-foot-3 center Kristaps Porzingis during the team’s season opener, causing him to be helped off the court and missing the rest of the game. The veteran had two points and three assists in 13 minutes in the Cavs’ 117-88 blowout over the Knicks.

Having both guards back in the lineup will give a huge boost to the Cavaliers, who lost backup point guards Mo Williams and Matthew Dellavedova over the summer.

The Cavaliers take on the Raptors for the first time since last season’s Eastern Conference Finals Friday night at the Air Canada Centre.
