Cavs News: Mo Williams (Thumb) to Return Tonight vs. New York Knicks

After missing the past two games because of an injury to his right thumb, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Mo Williams will be back playing for the team in Wednesday night’s home game versus the New York Knicks.

That news was reported by Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, who noted that Williams, a 13-year veteran, had taken part in the team’s last two practices in order to maintain the rhythm he had previously established. He injured the thumb during the team’s 89-77 victory on December 15 against the Boston Celtics.

While Kyrie Irving is back in the starting lineup, Williams still figures to see a good deal of action. Playing in place of Irving, Williams averaged 27.6 minutes, scoring 13.0 points, dishing out 4.1 assists and grabbing 2.8 rebounds per game.

With Williams’ return, the Cavaliers now have their entire roster healthy and ready to go. The timing works in concert with the team’s most important game so far just two days away when they face the Golden State Warriors in a Christmas Day road matchup.
